Job Description

Surge Energy Limited (Surge) is a company that specializes in manufacturing and revalidating of steel LPG cylinders. It was incorporated in 2017 and is located in Kisaju, Kenya. The strategic location provides convenient access to Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, the Mombasa Port through the Internal Container Depot (ICD), and the entire East Africa region.

Overview:

As an HR Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and exposure to various aspects of human resources within our organization. This internship is designed to provide hands-on learning and support to our HR team while contributing to the achievement of our organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing orientation materials and conducting orientation sessions.
  • Assist with employee relations activities, including maintaining employee records, handling inquiries, and supporting disciplinary processes.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting employee training and development programs.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives, such as performance management, employee engagement surveys, and diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Assist with benefits administration tasks, such as enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and contribute ideas for process improvements.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks within the HR department, including filing, data entry, and maintaining HR databases.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in human resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior internship or work experience in HR is a plus.
