Our purpose is to unlock value in Africa. We use our analytical capabilities to improve decision-making and, through better decisions, to unlock substantial value for our clients and society. While we are the largest economics-based consulting firm in Africa, we use a large number of techniques and approaches to achieve clarity for decision-makers.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Our Project capability is growing. Project teams operate across Africa and beyond and are usually multi-geography.

  • As the HR Manager – Projects, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR for staff specifically assigned to projects. Your role will involve client liaison, issue resolution, and managing complex situations for staff working in various international locations, with a specific focus on Africa. You should possess a good understanding of the project environment, particularly in relation to large donor-funded programs, including donors such as US AID, Mastercard Foundation, Gates Foundation, and others

Your role will encompass:

  • HR Project Management – managing all HR activities related to staff assigned to projects, including performance management, employee relations, and any issues arising.
  • Staffing and resource planning – working closely with project managers to understand resource needs and develop staffing plans, ensuring appropriate skills and competencies are available for project success. Facilitate the deployment of staff to project sites, handling logistics, immigration and work permit requirements, and other related issues such as remuneration packages and payroll currencies.
  • Employee Relations and issue resolution: guidance and support to project staff on HR policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring high employee satisfaction and engagement. Addressing and resolving complex employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary matters, in compliance with local labour laws and project requirements
  • International HR Operations: Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, benefits administration, and other HR transactions, collaborating with payroll, Employer of Record and global HR operations teams. Staying updated on local labour laws, compliance requirements, and cultural norms to ensure HR practices are aligned with local regulations and sensitivities.
  • Donor Compliance:   Ensure HR practices comply with donor requirements, reporting obligations, and ethical standards. Manage the donor-client relationship as this pertains to all HR-related activities

A successful candidate will have a drive to create impact and a strong background in international HR operations. You have a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience.
