Summary

Are you a dedicated and skilled medical professional with a passion for critical care and emergency medicine? Veteran Mission Hospital in Syokimau, Nairobi, is seeking a compassionate and experienced ICU and Casualty Medical Officer to join our team and provide exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Casualty (Emergency) department.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and diagnostics to develop and implement effective treatment plans for critically ill and injured patients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Monitor and manage patients’ conditions, including administering medications, performing procedures, and utilizing advanced life support techniques.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in daily rounds, case discussions, and handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate with specialists and consultants to provide specialized care when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate interventions to stabilize patients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in critical care and emergency medicine through continuous education and training.
  • Educate and support patients’ families, providing clear communication regarding patients’ conditions and care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery.
  • Mentor and support junior medical staff, interns, and students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Advanced training in critical care, emergency medicine, or a related specialty is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an ICU or emergency department setting.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to perform advanced life support procedures.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high-stress situations effectively.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients.
  • Proficiency in using medical software and electronic health records.
