Information Technology Officer

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced ICT Officer to oversee and manage the information technology operations within a healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of ICT systems and implementing new technologies to improve patient care and hospital efficiency. The ICT Officer will also work closely with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions that enhance the overall functionality of the hospital. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare ICT systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams, a deep understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Network and Systems Administration: Ensure that the hospital’s network, servers, and databases are running efficiently and securely. This includes managing data storage systems, ensuring high availability, and maintaining backups.
  • Hardware and Software Maintenance: Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of hardware (like computers, servers, and medical devices) and software applications used throughout the hospital.
  • Data Protection: Implement cybersecurity measures to protect patient data and other sensitive information from breaches. This involves regular security audits, implementing encryption, educating staff on best practices, and developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.=
  • Compliance: Ensure that the hospital’s IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards for data protection and patient privacy.
  • Develop and implement ICT policies and procedures while also collaborating with other departments to understand their technology needs
  • Technical Support: Provide Technical support to hospital staff for any ICT-related issues, ensuring that systems are running smoothly and that problems are resolved quickly to avoid disruptions in patient care.
  • Training: Organize and conduct training sessions on New Technologies for hospital staff and ensure they are proficient in using IT systems and understand security protocols.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget.
  • Implement new technologies to improve patient care and hospital efficiency.
  • Manage IT projects from inception to completion.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends in the healthcare industry.
  • Ensure the hospital’s IT infrastructure is scalable and adaptable to future needs.
  • Prepare and present reports on IT performance and initiatives to hospital leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare IT systems and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations.

  • Experience with network and system administration.
  • Ability to develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Ability to train and support non-technical staff.
