Job Description

Africa International University is a chartered Christian university. It was started as Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) in 1983 by the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA). The goal was to provide training for pastors beyond the basic certificate and diploma levels. This was informed by the envisioned crisis of ‘Christo-paganism’ in African Christianity without African Biblical theologians with advanced training to provide leadership in combating this trend. The objective was not simply for the enrichment of the scholar, but the ordinary believer in the church who was often poorly taught and vulnerable to a confused understanding of Christian truth.

Job Purpose:

To provide technical assistance to users, respond to inquiries, and resolve computer-related issues for clients, whether in person, over the phone, or remotely. The role holder will also contribute to enhancing the IT team’s performance under the mentorship of experienced IT staff, and within the context of the IT team’s operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Respond to user requests for service, troubleshoot problems, and help develop solutions.
  • Set up equipment for staff use, perform, or ensure proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
  • Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems.
  • Assist in developing training materials and procedures.
  • Assist in training users in the proper use of hardware, software applications, or systems on a project basis with a project team.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment and arrange for other servicing needs under the IT support Specialist’s supervision.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records and documentation for equipment.
  • Monitor the use of printing accessories such as paper and toner and request when depleted.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems Major.
  • Ability to work in a Windows network environment that is Web technology rich.
  • Awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, and Access), e-mail, and the Internet.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing services with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills; professional, pleasant office manner.
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal contact skills.
  • Proactive, responsive, and alert.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
