Investment Manager (Financial Institutions) (m/f/d)

Key responsibilities:

  • Origination, structuring and execution of senior and subordinated debt investments in financial institutions
  • Leading teams for due diligence and monitoring of financial institutions (banks and non-bank financial institutions, such as MFIs and leasing companies)
  • Driving and balancing the investment strategy and portfolio to ensure a suitable mix of impact, risk and return, considering key market developments in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Monitoring of financial sector regulatory and supervisory framework and policy
  • Internal and external reporting regarding investment portfolio and development of the Fund
  • Identifying technical assistance needs for financial institutions or market participants
  • Targeted policy dialogue with relevant stakeholders in the region
  • Representing and positioning FiM and the investment funds it advises/manages, including participation in conferences, workshops etc.

What we expect:


  • Relevant professional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, ideally including East Africa and solid business network
  • Proficient understanding of banking business, both from a business and risk perspective
  • Experience in lending to financial institutions and managing investment portfolios
  • Good skills in analysing financial institutions and solid understanding of accounting standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, knowledge of French would be an asset
  • Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills enhanced by intercultural skills and sensitivities
  • General knowledge of impact finance
  • Degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field
  • Goal oriented, fully committed to delivering high quality results under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel
