Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) is one of the six Regional Development Authorities (RDAs) in Kenya, established by an Act of Parliament CAP 441 with a mandate to, in part, initiate, plan and develop resources along the Kerio River basin.

JOB PURPOSE

The irrigation Engineer will report to the Director Technical Services for providing technical expertise, innovation, and problem- solving skills to support the Authority’s engineering projects, and operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing designs and supervision of project execution;
• Responsible for the safety operation and maintenance of plant and machinery;
• Prepare technical construction and installation specifications and ensure strict adherence to set standards;
• Preparation of the Divisional monthly, Quarterly and annual reports;
• Undertake Coaching and mentorship;
• Monitoring implementation of the projects and staff productivity;
• Undertake cost benefit analysis of projects and perform equipment selection;
• Monitor implementation of performance contract;
• Coordinate the Implementation of planned activities in the department; and
• Participate in project feasibility studies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical/Water/Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
