Job Description

Mitchell Cotts, founded in 1926, has evolved from a coal transport company into a leading logistics provider in East Africa, with significant contributions to the region’s shipping and freight forwarding industry.

Junior Legal Counsel

Key Responsibilities

  • Review contracts, leases, and other legal instruments.
  • Support legal risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft legal advisory opinions.
  • Maintain litigation and commercial matters databases.
  • Provide guidance on employment-related legal matters across the company and its subsidiaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognised university.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current Practising Certificate.
  • At least 3 years’ post-admission experience in a busy commercial law firm or legal department.
  • Experience in corporate and commercial law, employment law, and data privacy.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the legal aspects of logistics and supply chain is an added advantage.
