Claims Analyst will be responsible for analysing and determining the extent of liability on all claims reported. This role involves assessing all claims reported to determine their admissibility, with the help of approved service providers where necessary, and continually providing feedback to underwriting and sales on suspected acts of fraud.

Claims Analyst Job Responsibilities

Financial

  • Adhere to the reserving policy
  • Analyse claims to detect and curb fraud
  • Analyse each claim reported to determine admissibility, policy coverage and liability in a timely manner

Customer

  • Build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the ability to understand different stakeholder’s motivations and the ability to influence and persuade.

Process

  • Provide clear guidance and instructions to Claims Assistants on service provider appointments, required claim information and documentation and claim decisions
  • Use the Claims Workflow Tool to ensure adherence to departmental turnaround times (TATs)
  • Conduct thorough investigations which can include obtaining necessary documents and forms from claimants and Insured
  • Negotiate timely and appropriate settlements with claimants & Insured
  • Ensure the timely and complete closure of claims
  • Notify the Legal section of claims that could result in legal action

Any other duties assigned

  • Reviews and analyzes claims loss and expense reserves established by insurance carriers.
  • Acts as liaison between the insurance carriers and insurance broker to maintain loss expense reserves that are reflective of the company’s exposure.
  • Processes new claims and disseminates the claims to the appropriate insurance carrier.
  • Acts as liaison between corporate and field offices to facilitate the gathering of information that will allow proper response to claim losses and legal documents.
  • Identifies exposures to the company and reports to senior-level management on pending claims and litigation that may have an adverse impact on the corporate goals.
  • Acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies and individuals investigating any incidents that may result in asset loss.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.

Qualifications for the Claims Analyst Job

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field
  • 3+ years’ work experience
  • Competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision, be self-motivated and trustworthy.
  • Analytical thinking- Job requires strong combination of interpersonal, analytical and strategic skills.
  • Good Judgment – Job requires decision-making skills.
  • Team working- Job requires ability to build relationships with all stakeholders and team members.
  • Communication- Job requires excellent communication (written, verbal and telephone. Ability to communicate with confidence and influence outcome of negotiations.
  • Strong Personality- Job requires strong combination of interpersonal, analytical, strategic and decision-making skills.
  • Industry Knowledge- Job requires a professional/expert) in insurance products and services, insurance principles and practice and claims management/handling.
  • Managerial Skills- Job requires claims management experience.
  • Must be well groomed and possess excellent office etiquette.
