Job Purpose:

We are currently hiring a Land Transport Supervisor in Nairobi, Kenya, to oversee and optimize our logistics and transportation operations. In this role, the successful  candidate will ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery, maintain compliance with company policies, and drive continuous improvement. He or she Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in materials management, preferably in the FMCG industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and assess logistics operations, collaborating with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies, and customers.
  • Deliver logistics solutions while maintaining high-quality service within budget constraints.
  • Monitor and optimize quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit or delivery by carriers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Manage delivery route planning to meet SLAs and ensure on-time, in-full delivery performance.
  • Monitor delivery status and report discrepancies to the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Foster strong relationships with all parties involved in the logistics process.
  • Conduct or review environmental audits for environmentally friendly logistics practices.
  • Ensure statutory compliance in licensing, permitting, and certifications.
  • Build partnerships to satisfy transportation and equipment needs of various users.

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and assessments for land transport vehicles and trucks.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining Safety Management System documentation.
  • Collaborate with managers on risk assessments, procedures, work instructions, and guidelines for the Logistics Department.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics.
  • Must have 5 years and above of professional experience in materials management, preferably in the FMCG industry.
  • Completion of basic management and HSE courses is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Bill of Material (BOM), and customer data systems.
  • Expert knowledge of technical regulations related to logistics, including import/export, customs regulations, and fleet management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data entry and inventory software and systems.
  • Compliance with local/national and international standards and codes, health, safety, environment, and quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
