Job Description

AAR Japan was founded in 1979 by Yukika SOHMA, our first chairperson, with a mission to help refugees from Indochina, and as a civil organization without any political, religious, or ideological affiliations. It has since then grown into an international organization approved and registered by the United Nations.

Summary

Therefore, AAR Japan is seeking for a Life Skill Education (LSE) Officer for the abovementioned project. The successful candidate will be on duty at AAR Japan Kakuma Office, which is located in Kakuma, Turkana West, Turkana County. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of AAR Japan’s international staff. The details of the position in concern are as follows.

Duties;

  • Carry all duties under the direct supervision of AAR Japan’s international staff;
  • Liaise with stakeholders (local authorities, local-led organizations in communities or other agencies in education sector) to conduct a LSE project;
  • Develop LSE guidelines, training manuals, survey tools;
  • Pay a site visit to target schools to monitor the LSE activity progress and give teacher/student beneficiaries instruction/advise for the way forward;
  • Provide professional information and views on LSE to AAR Japan’s international staff when needed;
  • Conduct a pre/post survey to assess the impact of the project, analyze and compile collected data;
  • Write a monthly report and submit to AAR Japan’s international staff every month to report the progress of the project implementation;
  • Perform any other duties instructed by AAR Japan’s international staff;

Requirements;

  • More than 3 years’ work experience with a LSE-related position(s);
  • Deep understanding on LSE, relative international and national policies, teaching and learning materials;
  • LSE experience in the refugee set up is greatly valued;
  • Work experience with UN agencies or international NGOs is highly valued;
  • Fluent language skills of English;
  • Team-work skills;
  • Communication skills;
  • Independency and professionalism;
  • PC skills (Microsoft Office is a must);
