Aga Khan University Hospitals in Karachi, Pakistan and Nairobi, Kenya are private, not-for-profit institutions providing high quality health care. The Main Hospitals serve as the principal sites for clinical training for the University’s Medical Colleges and Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Pakistan and East Africa

Responsibilities:

• Ensure patients admitted to Cath lab have the required preparation for radiography
• Perform Radio-imaging during diagnostic and interventional procedures in Cath lab
• Ensure prompt and accurate documentation of procedures, volumes, environment and downtime
• Act as a Radiation Safety Officer and ensure strict adherence to Radiation Protection guidelines
• Monitor the environment in the equipment, chiller and UPS rooms to ensure that conditions meet recommended standards.
• Provide hands on training and keep training records for other professionals and students assigned to Cath lab.
• Maintain patient, staff, and visitor’s  safety by observing infection control practices and other  safety policies
• Practice judicious use of unit stocks and ensure prompt billing of used consumables
• Maintain effective communication with the other members of the Multidisciplinary team for effective patient care
• Participate in Unit based Continuing education and implementation of quality control programs, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) and skills checks
• Assist the manager in data collection and monitoring of identified unit-based quality and performance indicators
• Participate in departmental events such as public screening for heart disease, Medical Camps, World Heart Day activities and Conferences

Requirements:

• Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences or Equivalent
• Registration with Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as Cath lab Radiographer
• Adequate knowledge of congenital and acquired heart conditions with the associated angiographic and hemodynamic profiles
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good customer service skills
