Manager, Business Development – Group Business

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participating in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic marketing plans.
  • Leading the development of customer segment strategies, defining value propositions, service levels, and product offerings for each segment.
  • Developing pricing strategies that balance marketing objectives with customer satisfaction, in consultation with senior management.
  • Developing, monitoring, and controlling the marketing budget to ensure objectives are met within allocated spend, in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Manager.
  • Preparing concept papers, periodic progress reports, and annual reports, highlighting organizational achievements against targets and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Measuring product performance and working with business development and operations teams to implement improvements aligned with consumer needs.
  • Coordinating product branding and launch activities, including name selection, packaging, advertising, sales promotions, and digital marketing in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Manager.
  • Generating revenue from both new and existing brokers and clients, identifying broker needs to foster new business opportunities and the expansion of distribution channels
  • Maintaining regular contact with brokers to ensure growth in new and renewal business, and monitoring production to align with strategic plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field from a reputable university. Master’s is an added advantage.
  • Professional qualification(s) in insurance e.g. ACII, FCII or equivalent
  • At least seven (7) years’ post qualification experience with at least five (5) years at senior management level. Must have previous experience in sales.
