Job Description

The 1st Steiner-Waldorf Kindergarten opened in 1998… …in a small house along the Magadi Road on the outskirts of Nairobi. It was led by 3 teachers from Germany (Florian, Vojko and Irmgard). The following year the school moved to Mbagathi extending the kindergarten to a 1st Grade primary class.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Classroom Management:

  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons in accordance with Waldorf educational principles.
  • Maintain a well-organized and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Foster a warm, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Implement the regular teacher’s lesson plans and adapt as necessary to meet the needs of students.

Student Support and Development:

  • Observe and understand students’ individual learning needs and provide tailored support.
  • Encourage and guide students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, providing feedback and support as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with other faculty members to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment.

Employee Engagement and Development:

  • With guidance, participate in initiatives to enhance employee morale and engagement.
  • Support the coordination of professional development programs and staff training programs.
  • Compile reports from the employee engagement activities.
  • Conduct a training evaluation for all trainings undertaken.

Administrative Duties:.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the classroom.

Education, Skills and Experience.

  • Diploma in Education or early Child development.
  • Must be registered and valid member with TSC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and classroom dynamics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children.
