Job Description

Segera Limited is an oasis of luxury in 50 000 acres of wild Kenyan savannah.

Purpose of the job

To work towards ensuring that all vehicles/machines are in good working condition and also well maintained.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Inspect and test vehicles and conduct preventive maintenance including oil change, engine tune-up, tire rotation, wheel balancing and filter replacement.
  • Servicing and repairing light vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, generators heavy machinery, tractors etc.
  • Supervise and assign duties to any semi-skilled employees working under you.
  • Assess the assigned work if completed and well performed to your satisfaction.
  • Performing test drives to check repairs.
  • Test and ascertain with the drivers that the vehicles are in good condition before any trip and alert the drivers and management when defects are detected.
  • Advise on best alternatives of fixing defects including spares to be used.
  • Respond to emergencies and breakdowns at any time as long as it is within company acceptable limits.
  • Get feed backs from the driver on the condition of the vehicle/ Tractor every time they come back from the trip or the end of the day.
  • Keep a maintenance schedule for all heavy machines, vehicles and tractors.
  • Updating vehicle service records.
  • Perform any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by management from time to time.

Health and Safety

  • Alert colleagues, manager of any safety concerns at workplace.
  • Ensure that work environment is clean and devoid of objects which can cause harm or endanger others.
  • Control oil leaks to keep the environment clean and safe.
  • Keep tools and company property in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Ensure proper use of the PPE.

The ideal candidate must have the following minimum qualifications.

  • ‘O’ Level Certificate
  • Minimum trade test 1
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of vehicle mechanics
  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of repair tools and machinery.
  • Impeccable communication Skills
  • High degree of honesty, integrity and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prepared to work long and flexible hours
