Job Description

Agsol manufactures leading edge solar powered agro-processing machines, purpose built for poor, off-grid farming communities in developing countries.

  • To be successful, you will have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, manufacturing technologies, materials, theoretical calculations, design, and demonstrated hands-on ability to build things with your own hands. You will apply frugal prototyping methods, and you’re comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the design and manufacturing of new products and accessories
  • Design tools to aid in the manufacturing and quality control of the product
  • Create, update, and review engineering 3D models in Solid Edge environment
  • Create, update, and review high-quality and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Work with design expert contractors
  • Prototype new designs in-house using a lathe, vertical mill, power tools, etc.
  • Create documentation for assembly staff, QC personnel, and customers
  • Listen to customer feedback on the products, and propose design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Keep existing documentation up-to-date
  • Diagnose field failures, perform root cause analysis, propose robust solutions
  • Monitor technical performance metrics

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design practices, material selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Recent bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with specialization in design or manufacturing with first-class honors
  • Proficiency using Solid Edge or similar 3D CAD software
  • Demonstrated experience building things with own hands
  • Hands-on experience with machines like lathes, vertical mills, welding machines, 3D printers, etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills and extreme attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently
  • Effective and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office suite
