Tharaka Nithi County is one of the forty seven (47) counties in Kenya. It borders the Counties of Embu to the South and South West, Meru to the North and North East, Kirinyiga and Nyeri to the West and Kitui to the East and South East.

Requirements for appointment:

•  Be a Kenyan citizen;
•  Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.,& ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  Must have completed a Masters Degree in Oncology from a  recognized institution in Kenya;
•  Registered as a Medical/Specialist Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
•  Have a Valid Practicing License;
•  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
•  Willing to undertake duties in person in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;

Duties and responsibilities:

The Oncologist shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

•  Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
•  Carrying out specialized clinical care;
•  Providing psychosocial interventions;
•  Providing clinical services to patients;
•  Training, consulting and performing surgeries;
•  Carrying out forensic and medico-legal services;
•  Coordinating diseases surveillance, prevention and control;
•  Coordinating health education and promotion;
•  Implementing health projects and programmes;
•  Maintaining up-to-date health information systems;
•  Monitoring provision of health treatment and care;
•  Undertaking health research;
•  Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor
