Job Description

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Ministry Pilot

Samaritan’s Purse is seeking a Ministry Pilot to join our Mission Aviation Services team in Eldoret, Kenya. In East and Central Africa, roads are often poor or non-existent. Most often, the best and safest way to travel to critical locations is via aircraft. As a fixed-wing Ministry Pilot, you will support Samaritan’s Purse East Africa programs and projects by providing safe and reliable air transportation. Pilots may be assigned to more than one aircraft type, and current base location(s)s should not be assumed to be final; flexibility may be required. Come use your aviation skills to advance the Gospel!

A day in the life of a Ministry Pilot:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Ministry Pilot, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Perform pilot duties, including filing flight plans, obtaining weather data and interpreting the information for flights, completing aircraft weight and balances for flights, and loading/unloading passenger luggage and cargo.
  • Maintain all aircraft charts and keep software updated.
  • Ensure aircraft is clean, neat, and polished when both at and away from base, including sanitizing the aircraft restroom facilities after each flight.
  • Assist in the maintenance, repair and cleaning of the hangar and the property.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks to ensure safety.
  • Work with FAA as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  •  Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two (2) to four (4) years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1,200 hours of flight time.
  • FAA A&P Certification preferred, but not required.
  • First Class Medical.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate Airplane Single/Multi Engine Land with Instrument Rating.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
