Job Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the development and review of the program Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning plans, tools and policies
  • Take lead in conducting of baselines and internal evaluations, assessments and special studies for existing and upcoming programs.
  • Organize and conduct capacity enhancement forums for the relevant program staff in the performance of monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Facilitate quarterly program reviews against KPIs and draft program review reports to EGF management and partners.
  • Draft result oriented quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports for the program to be reviewed by the General Manager before submission to partners and any other stakeholder.
  • Regularly review and improve the M&E system by seeking stakeholder inputs and through consultations with practitioners in other organizations.
  • Coordinate external program evaluations and assessments and ensure learning is understood and disseminated to all the relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare case studies and success stories and other qualitative reporting mechanisms and coordinate documentation processes on periodic basis.
  • Monitor and facilitate program progress to ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal program quality indicators and thus highlight areas of insufficient compliance to the line the manager and the relevant program team.
  • Manage and participate in regular field monitoring visits and submit field visit reports.
  •  Periodically review and advise on the development of tailor-made tools for the Monitoring and Evaluation unit.
  • Supervise the M&E Officers assigned  to the program including the short-term consultants engaged by the program on periodic basis to conduct M&E related assignments for the program.
  • Take charge of data quality management for the program and ensure veracity and timeliness in reporting of program achievements.
  • Supervise the management of an effective information management system and a data base to facilitate effective managerial decision making.
  • Perform any other assigned duties and responsibility by the General Manager.

Desired Academic & Professional Qualifications:


  • A Master’s Degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, research, project planning & management, development studies, entrepreneurship or related course.
  • Professional certifications and training in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Practical knowledge of using data analysis softwares such as SPSS, STATA and NVivo.

Required Skills& Experience:

  • Demonstrate understanding of monitoring and evaluation for donor funded programs and especially in entrepreneurship and financial inclusion sector.
  • At least 5 years’   progressive experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation.
  • Hands on experience in setting M&E systems
  • Familiarity with new trends in the M&E field preferably in the development sector.
  • Skills in data base management will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to the field.
  • Ability to produce high quality reports in English especially technical reports.
