The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, introduced the devolved system of Government which resulted to the formation of the 47 Counties across the Country, Kakamega County being among them. Kakamega County is located in the western region of the country with an area of 3,051.3 square kilometers and an estimated population of 2,079,669 and density of 682. Administratively, it is divided into twelve sub counties, sixty wards, one hundred and eighty seven Village Units and four hundred Community Administrative Areas. Politically, it comprises of twelve constituencies and sixty wards. The climate in this region is very conducive for many activities including crop and animal production. Duties and Responsibilities

• Collection of bodies from wards;
• Performing autopsy procedures;
• Body embalming; admission and dispatch of bodies;
• Cleaning of the mortuary;
• Cleaning of mortuary equipment and body reconstruction;
• Wrapping in mortuary sheets, labelling and storing of dead bodies in the Cold room of the mortuary; and
• Keeping of appropriate registers for receipt and delivery of dead bodies at the mortuary;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

• Minimum of KCSE C- (Minus);
• Certificate in Mortuary Science or any other equivalent from a recognized institution;
• License from Kenya Health Professionals Oversight Authority; and
• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
