Motor Care and Services Garage is a Company offering a wide range of high standard motor vehicle maintenance, repair and restoration services. The Company deals with a wide range of private and commercial motor vehicles including saloon cars, SUVs, utility vehicles, vans, buses, lorries, trucks, trailers, among many others.

Job Title: Motor Assessor – Quality Assurance

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head of Operations, Motor Assessor – Quality Assurance will be responsible for assessing damaged motor vehicles in determining cost effective, safe and timely repairs. Reviewing and evaluating the work of motor vehicle assessors to ensure accurate assessments of vehicle damage, compliance with set standards, and proper claim handling, by conducting quality checks on reports, inspecting vehicles, and providing feedback to assessors to maintain high quality standards within the insurance claims processes. To control and rationalize the process and costs of vehicle repairs to ensure customer satisfaction and reduction in claims costs by 25%.

Main Responsibilities

  • Regularly review motor assessor reports, including damage assessments, repair cost estimations, and photographs, to identify potential errors, inconsistencies, or non-compliance with company guidelines and industry standards.
  • Conduct physical inspections of vehicles involved in accidents to verify reported damage, assess repair feasibility, and ensure accurate assessment by the original assessor.
  • Assess vehicles to determine extent of damage and ascertain repair cost.
  • Cost the accident damage & advice whether repairable or write off
  • Preparation of timely submission of assessment reports as per our brand standards
  • Recommend repairs for approval by claims manager.
  • Determine reasonability of prices/costs of repairs.
  • Weed out fraudulent and exaggerated claims.
  • Liaise with mechanics on progress of repairs.
  • Assist in sourcing rare and unobtainable parts.
  • Regularly update & advise claims officer on repair progress.
  • Provide excellent Customer service to clients.
  • Review external assessors’ reports and ascertain correctness of assessments & consistent with accident damage and provide recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensure costing’s in line with the company payment structure & make appropriate recommendations.
  • Check Quality & Consistency of repairs against assessment report
  • Prepare re-inspection report & Recommend payment in line with the repairs done.
  • Be the first point of contact in Technical for aggrieved clients.
  • Respond to client complaints in matters technical.
  • Keep a register of complaints and action thereon.
  • Assist in resolving disputes related to damage assessments by reviewing disputed claims and providing expert opinions.
  • Facilitate and /or respond to any correspondence and/or enquiries from other business units regarding matters being handled by technical department.
  • Provide constructive feedback to motor assessors regarding identified quality issues, highlighting areas for improvement and suggesting corrective actions
  • Provide technical advice on management on the company fleet.
  • Collect market intelligence & Advise on emerging trends in the market.

Knowledge & Experience

The candidate must demonstrate and possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification in Insurance will be an added advantage
  • 5 years working experience
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle mechanics, body repair techniques, and damage assessment procedures for different vehicle types.
  • Proven ability to identify quality issues, analyze data, and implement corrective actions
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail when reviewing assessments and inspecting vehicles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively provide feedback to assessors and present findings to stakeholders
