Job Description

National Project Manager (NPM) – Agribusiness

The National Project Manager (NPM) is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and management of an Agribusiness Project implementation.

Role and Responsibilities

Program Planning and Coordination

  1. Develop and implement a detailed work plan, including activity sequencing, timelines, and milestones, aligned with project results framework.
  2. Coordinate with the stakeholders and partners to ensure seamless execution across project counties.
  3. Facilitate bi-monthly coordination sessions and technical review meetings.

2. Project Management and Oversight

  1. Oversee the deployment of the project Program Management and M&E Systems
  2. Monitor progress against key performance indicators
  3. Ensure timely delivery of project deliverables, including inception reports, monthly/quarterly reports, and a sustainability handover report.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Lead high-level partner engagement with agribusiness service providers and community institutions
  2. Support agribusiness service providers sensitization workshops and stakeholder onboarding.
  3. Foster collaboration with county governments and national agencies

4. Capacity Building and Mentorship

  1. Supervise the rollout of mentorship programs covering agripreneurship, digital literacy, and business skills.
  2. Ensure training content is accessible in Digital Platform.

5.Reporting and Documentation

  1. Prepare and present structured monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the client including gender-disaggregated data and lessons learned.
  2. Document best practices and challenges to inform program improvements.
  3. Present reports in scheduled meetings, ensuring acceptance is recorded in meeting minutes.

6. Sustainability and Scalability

  1. Develop strategies for private sector-led continuation of the incubation and acceleration model beyond the project period.
  2. Propose scalability plans for expanding to additional counties or value chains.

Qualifications

Education:

  1. Master’s degree in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, rural development, project management, Development Studies, Business Demonstration or a related field.
  2. Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is Mandatory

Experience:

  1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in project planning, coordination, and management, with at least 5 years in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, or rural development projects.
  2. Proven track record of managing large-scale agricultural or value chain development projects, preferably in Kenya or East Africa.
  3. Experience in digital agriculture, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building programs.
  4. Familiarity with AfDB or IFAD or World Bank-funded projects and procurement guidelines is an advantage.

Skills:

  1. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  3. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Trello) and data analysis software.
  4. Knowledge of digital platforms and agricultural extension services.
  5. Fluency in English; proficiency in Swahili is highly desirable.
