Job Description

United States International University – Africa is located in the Kasarani area, off Thika Road in the suburb of Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi. The university is an independent, not-for-profit institution serving 6512 students representing 69 nationalities

Job Summary

The Nurse-Laboratory Technologist, reporting to the Department Chair of the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, will support laboratory activities related to teaching nurse students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and oversee laboratory procedures as per the nursing curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to students during practical sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities relevant to the nursing program.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment necessary for nursing education.
  • Guide students in the use of automated equipment relevant to nursing practices.
  • Assist faculty in the preparation and analysis of nursing-specific laboratory tests.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of nursing-related laboratory instruments.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols specific to nursing laboratory practices
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop practical training modules for nursing students.
  • Participate in nursing program development and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar role within a nursing education setting, demonstrating support for faculty and students in their practical learning endeavors.
