Job Description

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

Person specification:

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing qualification from a recognized institution  Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
  •  Valid Practicing Licensing from Nursing Council of Kenya Proficiency in computer application
  •  Demonstrated work performance and results
  •  At least three years’ experience working in a clinical trial or research setting will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Taking part in developing and implementing nursing care policies related to research activities
  •  Promoting innovation, creativity and excellence in nursing activities in the site
  •  Ensure implementation of nursing care and services required by the various diverse research studies within the site
  •  Spearhead patient\client Centeredness’ practices within the site
  •  Monitoring and evaluating nursing activities to ensure compliance with prevailing guidelines and statutory requirements
  •  Ensuring performance contracting and capacity building by appraising nursing staff
  •  Participating in scientific meetings
  •  Reviewing and approving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  •  Establishing staff training needs and recommending training programs; and
  •  Coach and mentor nursing staff.
