Nursing Officers

JOB SUMMARY

  • To cultivate a safe, secure, and healthy environment for patients, colleagues, and staff while delivering exceptional quality care to patients and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the highest possible standard of client care by adhering to the hospital’s standard treatment protocols and guidelines.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate patients admitted to the wards and assist doctors during ward rounds.
  • Carry out procedures such as wound dressing, suturing, deliveries, bed-making, damp dusting, taking vital signs, and conducting physical examinations, in line with hospital protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist in theatre by preparing instruments, circulating, scrubbing, and monitoring patients.
  • Ensure patient safety and maintain confidentiality of all client information at all times.
  • Ensure 24-hour coverage of the hospital by following the monthly duty Rota.
  • Facilitate a smooth and efficient client flow to minimize waiting times.
  • Provide accurate, friendly, and helpful service, advice, guidance, and education to all clients while maintaining a high standard of customer care.
  • Ensure doctors’ and nurses’ rooms are clean, well-equipped, and properly maintained, and assist in the preparation for procedures.
  • Safeguard patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Timely and appropriately admit patients requiring inpatient care, initiate discharge planning, and ensure all chargeable services and items are correctly billed.
  • Accurately file all medical claims and ensure timely preparation of Ministry of Health (MOH) and nursing reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised institution.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy hospital setting.
