Kinetic Controls provides electrical and mechanical maintenance services in Kenya.

Occupational, Health, Safety and Quality Officer

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health, Safety, and Quality (OHSQ) Officer to oversee our health and safety programs and ensure quality standards in the industrial sector with a focus on electrical and mechanical scopes. This role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce OHS policies and programs.
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
  • Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment).
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc.
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.

Educational Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Certifications:
  • Certified by DOSHS, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an HSEQ role, with specific expertise within the electrical/mechanical scope in an industrial environment.

Required Skills:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient at assessing complex environments and deducing risks.
  • Attention to Detail: Essential for identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive understanding of Kenyan safety regulations, compliance requirements, and standards.
