Job Description

Global Training & Development is a small team of specialists who support cross-country planning and coordination, take the lead on cross-country projects, develop in-country capacity, and develop innovative ways to meet the diverse learning needs of farmers and our team. Our work focuses on trainings for staff, impact trainings for clients, and training systems for the Field Operations department. This position will report to the Global Training & Development Lead. New Country Expansion is a network of pilot programs made up of small, dynamic teams that are growing quickly in size. The New Country Expansion (NCE) Training Associate focuses on supporting the specific needs of our new country pilots including:

  • Vision, Planning & Coordination – the NCE Training Associate is a new role at One Acre Fund that will be expected to work with the Global Training & Development Lead and NCE staff to develop a long-term (2020) and short-term (2016-2017) vision and strategic plan for NCE training. The NCE Training Associate will support the Global Training & Development Lead in coordinating the work of NCE staff to drive towards this vision.
  • NCE Systems & Materials – the NCE Training Associate will take primary responsibility for customizing or creating systems and materials (staff development, operations processes, and impact) for NCE contexts. The NCE Training Associate will also support the creation of cross-country curriculum for larger countries in the short term (2016).
  • Trainer – in contexts where in-country staff lack the bandwidth or capacity to implement key training and development initiatives, the NCE Training Associate will be the trainer.
  • Capacity Development – the NCE Training Associate will work with NCE staff to develop their capacity to implement services independently.
  • M&E – the NCE Training Associate will work with the Global Training & Development Lead, the Global Training & Technology Associate, and NCE staff to collect, store, report and act on training data to improve service delivery.
  • Innovation – the NCE Training Associate will propose, develop, trial and scale up new ways to provide training services in different NCE contexts. The NCE Training Associate will also identify innovations already implemented by in-country teams and share those learnings with other NCE countries and the global team.

We are seeking exceptional professionals with 2-5+ years of work experience and a demonstrated passion for international development. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • 2-5 years of strong work experiences. We are looking for strong leaders with a track record of demonstrated success in administering and improving educational programs in the developing world.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in education, international development, training or a related field preferred.
  • Experience as a teacher and in training teachers in an international context, preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment in an international context, preferred
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating the impact of education programs in an international context, preferred.
  • Experience living and working in rural developing contexts.
  • Humility. We are looking for passionate professionals who combine strong leadership skills with maturity, patience, and a humble approach to service to join our growing family of leaders.
  • Language: English required. French and Kiswahili preferred.


Preferred Start Date




Starts very modest. However, this is a career-track role with fast raises for performance, paying a meaningful salary for long-term placement in developing nations.
