Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Transportation Management:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize transportation operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Oversee the scheduling and dispatch of transportation vehicles, including trucks, ships, or planes.
  • Monitor and improve transportation routes, taking into account efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate transportation performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Equipment Management:

  • Lead the management of all transportation equipment, including maintenance, repairs, and procurement.
  • Ensure equipment inventory is accurately maintained and aligned with operational needs.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and safety.
  • Develop and manage equipment budgets.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Collaborate with various departments, such as logistics, warehousing, and customer service, to streamline operations and meet customer demands.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges promptly, implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure efficient stock management.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation and equipment-related documentation.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of operations and transportation professionals, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth departmental operations.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and control expenses related to transportation and equipment management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize expenditure.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets.

Emergency Response:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to address transportation and equipment-related incidents or emergencies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of employees and assets during critical situations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in transportation, equipment management, or logistics in Shipping Industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics and transportation software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements in the shipping and logistics industry.
  • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
