Job Description

Abyssinia Group of Industries is the largest steel producer in East Africa with capacity in excess of 350,000 metric tons per annum. Using mineral resources from its own mining operations in Homa Bay County and imported uncompromised billets.

SUMMARY

Abyssinia Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the payroll processes for the organization. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of proven experience in payroll management, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and efficient payroll processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll Processing:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, including data input, calculations, and disbursements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify and process changes to employee records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Labor laws and regulations related to payroll.
  • Generate and submit statutory reports as required by local authorities.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related deductions.

Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee profiles, earnings, and deductions.
  • Develop and implement recordkeeping systems to streamline payroll processes.

Tax Compliance:

  • Manage and reconcile payroll tax obligations, including income tax and social security contributions.
  • Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and adjust payroll processes accordingly.

Communication:

  • Effectively communicate with employees regarding payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve any payroll-related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements in Kenya.
  • Proficient in payroll software and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferably Gujarat speaking
