Job Description

e-commerce solution revolutionizing car ownership in sub-Saharan Africa. We started with an automotive marketplace, leveraging technology and robust offline operations to reduce pain points in the market for locally-used vehicles, delivering quality, convenience, and value to our customers.

Role 

The People Operations Manager will oversee and manage various aspects of the human resources function within Peach: recruitment and onboarding, performance management, retention management and employee relations.

Roles and Responsibilities.

  • Manage the recruitment process for managerial positions and above within the organization. This involves sourcing candidates and conducting interviews, to ensure the right candidates are selected.
    • Result: Managerial positions are hired for with a 90% success rate
  • Own all onboardings and probation review: Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensure they have a smooth transition into the organization. In addition to this you conduct all probationary reviews for new employees.
    • Result: New employees are onboarded successfully; onboarding materials are improved regularly; reviews are given in the time outlined
  • Performance management. Participate in the biannual performance reviews to provide feedback and support to all employees.
    • Result: Reviews are developed and delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor laws and promote a positive work environment. This includes policies related to hiring, performance management, employee conduct, etc.
    • Result: HR policies are outlined; compliant and updated regularly. Systems for updating are in place and regularly checked.
  • Design and implement systems and processes to support the team’s growth for scalability in the organization.
    • Result: Process innovations are suggested regularly; scalability is considered in all decision making
  • Oversee the administration of employee payroll. Additionally, you would manage employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, and other perks.
    • Result: Employee payroll + benefits programs are managed without issues
  • Collect and analyze key HR data such as employee turnover. This information would be used to inform strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
    • Result: Information is tracked regularly and reported on; areas of improvement are identified
  • Promote Peach culture. Create more awareness of Peach culture and find ways of creating a positive work culture where employees feel valued, engaged, and motivated.
    • Result: Values are communicated to all employees; Peach culture is strong
  • Retention management: Develop strategies to retain top talent within the organization, including implementing employee engagement initiatives, conducting exit interviews to identify reasons for turnover, and addressing any issues that may be contributing to employee dissatisfaction.
    • Result: Exit interviews are completed and reported upon; data backed insights to determine strategy are reported on; employee engagement initiatives are implemented & reported on

Requirements

Preferred qualifications and requirements:

  • Candidates should be an experienced HR / People Ops professional with successes across the range of recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top talent from local and international markets.
  • Five to ten years’ prior experiences in managerial HR, People Ops, and people management are required.
  • Discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to listen, analyze and inform appropriately while maintaining the required sensibilities in handling confidential information.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems
  • Must be a registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
