Job Description

Premier Hospital is an 82 bed specialized hospital located in Nyali, Mombasa offering high quality emergency, outpatient and inpatient care. JOB PURPOSE

Assisting in preparation of anesthesia, ensuring cleanliness of the theatre, sluicing used linen and instruments, packing and sterilizing of surgical packs/instruments.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble equipment and requirements for induction and reversal of anesthesia.
  • Checking the anesthetic and suction machines for working condition in liaison with the theatre.
  • Participate in positioning of patient for the surgical procedure.
  • Assisting in lifting of the patient during transfer from and to the operating table.
  • Cleaning the operating room after a surgical procedure.
  • Perform high cleaning and dusting of the entire operating room at least once a
  • Decontaminate and clean surgical packs and instruments.
  • Sluice soiled theatre linen after every procedure before taking it to the holding area.
  • Pack/sterilize surgical packs and instruments.
  • Implement the theatre policies and procedures as instructed.
  • Check and maintain records of all theatre movables.
  • Report any faulty equipment or instrument to the theatre nursing officer or the shift leader.
  • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description.

REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Perioperative theatre technician Course.
  • Valid BLS training certificate.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a busy hospital setup.
