Job Description

CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.

PR & Communication Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented PR & Communications Assistant to support our growing communications efforts. This role is pivotal in enhancing our firm’s reputation, increasing brand visibility, and engaging with our key audiences across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be a sharp writer, a social media native, and have a passion for storytelling. You will play a key role in executing our PR strategies, managing our online presence, and supporting internal communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Public Relations & Media Relations:
  • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, media alerts, and fact sheets.
  • Help build and maintain the company’s media contact list, fostering relationships with journalists and influencers in the business and HR sectors in Kenya.
  • Monitor media coverage (print, online, broadcast) and compile weekly media reports.
  • Support the planning and execution of PR events, such as press conferences and media briefings.
  • Content Creation & Social Media Management:
  • Assist in creating engaging content for our social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to promote our services, company culture, and industry insights.
  • Schedule and publish content using social media management tools.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with our online community.
  • Support the creation of marketing collateral, including blog posts, newsletters, and case studies.
  • Brand Management & Internal Communications:
  • Help ensure all external communications align with the company’s brand guidelines and voice.
  • Support internal communication initiatives to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Assist in maintaining the company website, ensuring content is up-to-date.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Maintain the PR & Communications calendar and activity tracker.
  • Assist with reporting on PR and social media metrics (KPIs) to measure campaign effectiveness.
  • Provide general administrative support to the communications team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a PR, Communications, or similar role. Experience in a B2B, consulting, or professional services environment is a strong advantage.
