Primary Mathematics Teacher

About the role:

  • Strathmore School is seeking a qualified and motivated Mathematics teacher to join its Upper Primary team. The role involves delivering Mathematical Activities within the Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum, with a focus on engaging learners in active, problem-solving-based learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Mathematics lessons in line with the CBE curriculum and syllabus.
  • Prepare learning materials and maintain professional teaching documents.
  • Plan and implement effective classroom management practices.
  • Support learners in bridging learning gaps through targeted learning support.
  • Engage learners in active, hands-on, and creative problem-solving activities.
  • Support co-curricular activities through sports coaching or club patronage.
  • Contribute to the school’s mentorship programme for learner character development.

Essential qualifications & experience

  • A Diploma or University Degree in Education with Mathematics as a teaching subject.
  • A minimum of C+ at O-Level (KCSE or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Valid TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable

  • Proven experience preparing learners for the Kenya Primary Schools Education Assessment (KPSEA).
