Job Description

Primary Years Co-Teacher

Ideal Candidates

Reflective, collaborative, and inclusive educators with strong expertise in Special Education and learner support. Candidates should have experience working in inclusive or special education settings and demonstrate a thoughtful, adaptable approach to differentiation, case management, and supporting diverse learning needs.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, or Bachelor of Education with Certification in Special Needs Education (SNE)
  • Minimum three years’ experience in an inclusive or special education setting
  • Valid TSC registration (mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and learner support strategies
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum differentiation and diverse learning needs
  • Experience with Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs) and learner progress monitoring
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong alignment with Woodland Star’s mission, vision, and values

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Homeroom teachers to co-plan, co-deliver, and co-assess lessons aligned with curriculum objectives and inclusive education principles
  • Adapt and differentiate instructional materials and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Support learners in building knowledge, developing problem-solving skills, and deepening conceptual understanding in alignment with Common Core Standards
  • Implement mastery-based teaching, learning, and reporting approaches to ensure all learners can participate meaningfully
  • Act as case manager for Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs), or ensure relevant updates are provided to the designated case manager
  • Monitor, document, and communicate learner progress with teachers, families, and the Learning Support Team
  • Provide targeted small-group and individual support during lessons where needed
  • Promote inclusive participation, positive peer relationships, and independent learning
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and independent thinking
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, student support, and professional learning
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities, collaborative planning meetings, and school-wide initiatives
  • Uphold Woodland Star’s mission, values, policies, and commitment to inclusive education
