Product Owner

Job Purpose Statement

The Product Owner role is responsible for product backlog management – creating, refining and prioritizing items in the backlog and ensuring the team focuses on the most valuable tasks first. Other responsibilities include; communicating the product roadmap and progress to stakeholders, getting feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into the product backlog, collaborating and working closely with the development team throughout the development lifecycle, gathering feedback from various sources including user testing and market research to continuously iterate on the product and ensuring it meets evolving customer needs.
The role is central to innovation in digital financial services business and is thus the steward to the product management process. The role holder is responsible for LOOP DFS product management in the markets with operational presence.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Backlog Management & Prioritization (30%)

  • Maintaining a well-groomed product backlog that prioritizes high-value items
  • Develop user stories, coordinate the review and refinement in collaboration with the development team to ensure clear, concise, achievable, relevant and time-boxed
  • Approving the user stories to ensure alignment with the product vision and backlog priorities

Delivery & Execution (20%)

  • Manage delivery of product features and achievement of specific functionality goals within a sprint
  • Fostering a strong relationship with the development team
  • Coordinate the work plan delivery and regular reviews of the priority items development
  • Communicate the product development progress to stakeholders

Quality Assurance (40%)

  • Working with the development team to define clear and measurable acceptance criteria for user stories to ensure the delivered features meet expectations
  • Collaborate with the development team on creating and reviewing test cases
  • Involved in identifying, prioritizing, and tracking defects throughout the development process and during user testing
  • Defining release criteria and working with development team to prepare for product releases
  • Monitor key metrics and user feedback to assess product performance and inform future product iterations
