Job Description

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is Kenya’s premier bar association, with membership of all practicing advocates, currently numbering over thirteen thousand members. It has the mandate to advise and assist members of the legal profession, the government and the larger public in all matters relating to the administration of justice in Kenya. The Society was established by an Act of Parliament – The Law Society of Kenya Act (Chapter 18 of the Laws of Kenya). The Law Society in its present form was formed in 1948 by section 3 of the Law Society of Kenya Ordinance, 1949. That Act was later repealed by the current Law Society of Kenya Act, which came into force on 30th October, 1992. Our Vision The vision of the Law Society of Kenya is to empower our members and promote good governance and the just rule of law. Our Mission The Law Society of Kenya mission is to be a world recognized bar association in the provision of quality services, fostering advocacy and the rule of law.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and manage the activities of the office of the Secretary/CEO
  • Manage the calendar, diary and correspondence for the Secretary/CEO.
  • Assist the Secretary/CEO with the implementation of Council resolutions.
  • Organizing, coordinate and attend meetings with the Secretary/CEO.
  • Prepare reports after meetings.
  • Draft statements, speeches and reports as will be directed by the Secretary/CEO.
  • Initiate action points and make follow ups from meetings and/or forums with partners and stakeholders.
  • Act as the point of contact among executives, management, employees, advocates and other external partners and stakeholders.
  • Handle requests and queries in consultation with the Secretary/CEO
  • Assist in fundraising for LSK projects
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the Secretary/CEO.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized institution;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court with a minimum of 5 years post admission experience.
  • Hold a valid practicing certificate;
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya;
  • Proficiency in computer skills; and Communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
