Job Description

PELUM Association is a regional network of over 220 civil society organizations in 12 countries in East, Central and Southern Africa working in the area of participatory ecological land use management. The Association works to improve the livelihoods of small-scale farmers and the sustainability of farming communities, by fostering ecological land use management. Country chapters include Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland and Ethiopia.

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in support programmes implementation work in the field and in the office.
  • Assisting in Preparing and providing meeting/events documents including agenda, program and supporting documents.
  • Assisting in the preparation of meeting notes, workshop reports and presentations when required.
  • To assist in implementation of short-term projects.
  • To support in logistics of different activities including programme meetings and events organized by PELUMKenya.
  • To assist in compiling data related to attendances in meetings and events.
  • To assist in capture, caption and store activity photos in a designated folder/server.
  • To assist program officers in photocopying, printing and filing of necessary documents.
  • To assist in preparation and follow up on programmes budgets, payment requests and surrenders.
  • To Assist Zonal Coordinators (PELUM Kenya in the Field) and pursue matters that requires attention at the Secretariat.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Requirements, Minimum Qualifications & Credentials:

  • Currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, environment, natural resource management, climate change, project management or related fields
  • A short course on organic agriculture, agroecology will be an added advantage
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational, time management and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to multi-task, to work flexibly and meet tight deadlines;
  • Team player with ability to undertake tasks with minimal supervision
  • Be flexible to travel to the field when required.
  • Has interest in Community and social development
