Job Description

The Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board (herein after referred to as “the Board”) is a semi autonomous government agency that was established in December 2013 following the enactment of the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act, 2011. It is in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs.

Vacancy No. AFGM/14/2023 (1post)- Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing Anti-FGM policies, guidelines and strategies;
  • Implementing Anti-FGM education and awareness programmes;
  • Preparing advocacy IEC materials for awareness creation on FGM issues;
  • Mobilizing participants involved in community driven dialogues on female genital mutilation issues;
  • Identifying resource persons/trainers to undertake capacity building on Anti-FGM issues;
  • Mapping out institutions working towards eradication of the practice of female genital mutilation;
  • Identifying target group for awareness creation on female genital mutilation campaign;
  • Conducting sensitization forums on Anti-FGM interventions;
  • Updating and maintaining a database of Anti-FGM stakeholders; and
  • Fostering partnerships between the Board and development partners, local and international organizations;
  • Promoting partnership in Anti-FGM campaigns, radio and television spots;
  • Undertaking stakeholder mapping and keeping a database;
  • Supporting resource mobilization programmes and activities;
  • Undertaking monitoring of resource mobilization initiatives for sustainable financing of the Board’s projects and programmes; and
  • Development of partners’ database, development plans and funding plans.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Sociology; Anthropology; Education; Gender Studies, Social Development, Community Development, Social Work and Welfare, Disaster Mitigation and Management, Counselling, Psychology, Project Planning and Management, Community health and Development its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
