Job Description

Burhani Engineers Ltd. offers end-to-end solutions in electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and civil fields. Burhani Engineers Ltd. is an established EPC Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering company operating in the East and Central Africa region with offices in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam.

Responsibilities

Claims Identification and Assessment:

  • Analyze project contracts, specifications, and documentation to identify potential claims and disputes.
  • Evaluate the impact of changes, variations, and delays on project costs and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project teams and contracts Administrator to gather necessary information for claims assessment.

Claims Management:

  • Lead the claims management process by compiling evidence, documentation, and data to support claims.
  • Prepare and submit well-structured and comprehensive claims to clients or relevant parties.
  • Engage in negotiations and discussions with stakeholders to resolve disputes and achieve fair settlements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks related to cost, schedule, and claims early in the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent or minimize the impact of claims.

Communication:

  • Foster clear and effective communication with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and project teams regarding claims and cost-related matters.
  • Provide expert advice on claims-related issues and potential resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of project changes, variations, and delays that could lead to claims.
  • Generate comprehensive reports detailing claims assessment, negotiations, and outcomes.

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on claims management.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, contract law, and relevant industry standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  •  Experience of having worked for a main contractor or consultancy
  • Exposure to large scale, complex construction projects
  •  Familiarity with standard forms of contract such as FIDIC
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in relevant software for cost estimation, project management, and claims documentation.
  • Attention to detail.
