Tharaka Nithi County is one of the forty seven (47) counties in Kenya. It borders the Counties of Embu to the South and South West, Meru to the North and North East, Kirinyiga and Nyeri to the West and Kitui to the East and South East. The county lies between latitude 000 07′ and 000 26′ South and between longitudes 370 19′ and 370 46′ East. The County is approximately 2,662.1 Km2; including the shared Mt Kenya forest estimated to have 360Km2 in Tharaka Nithi County. Requirements for appointment

•  Be a Kenyan citizen;
•  Be a holder of a Degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) from an institution recognized in Kenya
•  Must have completed a Master’s Degree in Radiology from a recognized institution in Kenya
•  Registered as a Medical/Specialist Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
•  Have a Valid Practicing License
•  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing
•  Willing to undertake duties Physically in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time
•  Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized

Duties and responsibilities

The Radiologist shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

•  Apply the principles and procedures of modern medicine in preventing, diagnosing, caring for and treating illnesses, diseases and injuries;
•  Provide Medical Imaging reports to other Medical Personnel
•  Supervise the implementation of care and treatment plans by other medical personnel
•  Head Radiology Medicine Department in the County
•  Advise the County on Radiological Diagnosis and Management from time to time.
•  Conduct medical education and research activities in clinical area of work
•  Participate in the development of procedures for the department
•  Make decisions regarding work processes based on established guidelines
•  Prioritize and organize work to meet changing conditions and any other roles and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
•  Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
