Job Description

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Regional ICT Intern East and Southern Africa

Generic responsibilities 

  • Implement NRC’s ICT policies and guidelines at office level.
  • Schedule computer related services and maintenance.
  • Ensure information security for all NRC systems in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulations.
  • Provide ICT support and training to staff within office.

Specific responsibilities 

  • Provide on-site technical support to end users on hardware and software related issues.
  • Assist with installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware, software and IT systems.
  • Provide training to users on hardware and software usage.
  • Assist with inventory management and record-keeping for ICT equipment and software.
  • Monitor and maintain network connections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT team.

Qualifications

  • Recently graduated from a college/university degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in troubleshooting common computer hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and various operating systems including Windows and MacOS.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
