Registered Nurse [1] – Accident and Emergency Care

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Be a holder of at least a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Be a holder of a Higher National Diploma in Accident and Emergency Care Nursing
  • Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya as an Accident and Emergency Care Nurse
  • Possess a valid Practicing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya as an Accident and Emergency Care Nurse
  • Must be computer literate

Duties and responsibilities

The Registered Nurse – Accident and Emergency Care shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

  • Offering Nursing Services to patients;
  • Ensuring that medical and other clinical emergencies are well responded to and patients well attended to;
  • To ensure that the casualty unit of the hospital has all the necessary supplies;
  • Guiding and counseling patients, clients and staff on health issues;
  • Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities or units in the facility;
  • Coaching and mentoring students on attachment;
  • Organizing health management teams and convening health management committee meetings
  • Collecting and compiling data for research on nursing services issues
  • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor

  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
  • For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
