Registered Nurse (RN)

  •  Team planning and execution of the plan to accomplish assigned patient care effectively and safely – Conversant with the CURE nursing care standards and performs safe nursing care based on this
  • Effective Communication with other care givers on patient care needs – Gives a detailed patient report but concise, pertinent and in a chronological order
  • Maintaining proper documentation of all patients’ records – All entries of information into the patient file must be accurate, legible, clear and complete
  • Accompanying doctors during ward rounds – Identify patient’s needing review and avail oneself with the required patient documents
  • Proper drug administration – Administer drugs safely, aseptically and correctly at all times
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work environment – Adherence to the policies and procedures on the same
  • Handing over of non – consumables – Ensure the above are handed over every shift and are in good working condition
  • Mentoring and teaching all new staff – Willingly and patiently offers guidance, support and encouragement to new nurses
  • Improve your skills and the work of the team by attending required continuing education opportunities – Attends continuing education as scheduled to assure continued competency, Ensures that one has attained the 40hrs in a year as required by the Nursing Council of Kenya and Forward topics to your supervisor related to nursing so as to better patient care
  • Participates in the facility’s Quality Improvement Program – Adherence to policies and procedures set towards this end
  • Maintains warm, sensitive and cooperative relationships with patients, families, co-workers, department managers, administration, and medical staff, etc
  • Treats these various groups of people in a polite and friendly manner
  • Demonstrates sincere concern and sensitivity to the needs of patients/guardians at all times
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient’s information
  • Assesses the patient’s psychological, social, and spiritual factors which may indicate a necessary intervention
  • Works well with others towards common goals, promotes harmonious working relationships (doesn’t cause division)
  • Respectful, cooperative, responds positively to instructions
  • Participate in staff morning devotions – Prepares for the above as scheduled
  • Help with patient referral to other hospital when necessary
  • To perform any other reasonable duty that is in line with nurse’s profession and responsibility that may be assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary
  • In-charge of all quality activities in relation to this position as per the Hospital Standards.
