Job Description

Sanlam Investments East Africa (SIEA) is a leading fund manager in the region and has a strong record of accomplishment in service delivery and performance,with over KShs 230 billion (approximately US$ 2.3 billion) in assets under management. SIEA is part of the Sanlam Group, through its subsidiary Sanlam Emerging Markets. Summary

The role will be responsible for developing and managing strong relationships with our small and medium enterprise (SME) clients. This role is crucial for driving business growth and achieving our financial targets within the SME segment.

Primary responsibilities:

SME Portfolio Growth:

  • Build and manage a strong portfolio of SME clients, exceeding assigned sales targets for new business.
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments to identify appropriate financial products and services that meet the specific requirements of each SME client.

Customized Financial Solutions:

  • Develop and present customized financial solutions, effectively communicating the benefits and value propositions of our offerings to all intermediaries.
  • Tailor solutions to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by SMEs.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Foster strong client relationships through regular communication, proactive account management, and exceptional customer service. Understand the evolving needs of SME clients and provide timely support.

Cross-Selling and Revenue Generation:

  • Proactively identify cross-selling opportunities to deepen client relationships and increase revenue.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery to clients.

Business Development Strategies:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective business development strategies for the SME segment. Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform strategy.

Person Specifications

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Marketing/ Insurance or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma in Insurance from AllK/ACII or its equivalent from a recognized institution; and
  • Member of AllK /ACII or a relevant professional body.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in relationship management, business development or a similar role within the financial services industry (preferred)

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving business development goals in the SME segment (highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial products and services relevant to SMEs. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and self-driven.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with the requisite qualifications, skills and experience.
