Key Responsibilities:

Sample Collection and Preparation:

• Collect samples from various sources for laboratory testing.
• Prepare samples for analysis, ensuring proper handling and storage to prevent contamination.

Laboratory Testing and Analysis:

• Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on samples to detect contaminants, pathogens, and other harmful substances.
• Utilize laboratory instruments and equipment such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
• Perform routine tests including, but not limited to, bacteriological analysis, chemical analysis, and physical property testing.

Data Recording and Reporting:

• Accurately record test results and observations in laboratory logs and databases.
• Prepare detailed reports of findings for review by senior laboratory personnel and health officials.
• Communicate any significant findings that may pose a risk to public health promptly.

Quality Control and Compliance:

• Adhere to established laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Participate in internal and external quality control programs and proficiency testing.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding laboratory practices and public health standards.

Laboratory Maintenance:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly.
• Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.

Safety and Sanitation:

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Handle hazardous materials and dispose of waste according to established protocols.
• Participate in safety training and continuing education programs.
