TERMS OF SERVICE FIVE [5] YEARS’ CONTRACT WITH ELIGIBILITY FOR RE-APPOINTMENT ON

SATISFACTORY WORK PERFORMANCE.

Reports To: The Vice Chancellor, Laikipia University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Security Officer will be expected to:

  • Supervise security staff;
  • Ensure security of all visitors of the University and making reports thereof;
  • Enforcement of traffic discipline within the University;
  • Make regular security surveys and reports summaries on campus security;
  • Prevent and report any theft or loss of Laikipia University properties;
  • Handle welfare matters of security staff e.g. uniforms, leave roster, off-duty, duty roster, etc;
  • Carry out investigation of all security incidences such as fire, and assist in orderly movement of people to safe areas within the University premises;
  • Collect and gather intelligence report including the CCTV surveillance;
  • Ensuring that University’s assets are secured;
  • Conduct security risk assessment;
  • Implementing security policies;
  • Review security reports to ensure efficiency and quality of Security operations;
  • Ensure the implementation of security strategies and procedures;
  • Coordinate security operations with public law enforcement agencies;
  • Implement emergency management and contingency procedures;
  • Prepare reports and submit security reports to the Vice Chancellor;
  • Identify, investigate and resolve security breaches;
  • Coordinate training and development of security staff;
  • Supervise contracted security services; and
  • Any other duties as may be assigned, prescribed and/or delegated by the immediate supervisor

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:
For appointment to this post, a candidate MUST have;

  • Attained the rank of Inspector of Police or its equivalent OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security related studies from a recognized institution;
  • Attendance of a supervisory or other professional course lasting more than two weeks will be an added advantage; and
  • Experience: At least six [6] years’ experiences in security services, three [3] years of which you must have served as Security Officer II or equivalent.
