Job Description

Kempinski Hotels S.A. is Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group. The group now has its head office in Geneva but was founded in Berlin in 1897 as the ‘Hotelbetriebs-Aktiengesellschaft’.

Security Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

  • In absence of Director of security, oversees all security and safety measures at the hotel.
  • Actively support and implement Talent Development initiatives as a part of their daily activities.
  • Actively support in planning of fire drills and all emergency contingency plans.
  • Investigate nature of incidents in a professional manner and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Operate CCTV systems and ensure no information is shared out without proper authorization by hotel authorities.
  • Conducts audits of all major incidents and submit monthly reports.
  • In collaboration with other OHS team members, coordinates, attend and conduct necessary trainings.
  • Conduct performance appraisals with the team on a regular basis and take personal interest for their talents’ development plans.
  • Identify potential talent and initiate development goals.
  • Handle all incoming information etc with confidentiality and forward to the person concerned.
  • Ensure that gate passes are issued for all items/stocks that leave the hotel and each item to be logged in the register book.
  • Submit monthly gate passes summary reports to the management as stipulated by the company policies.
  • Make entries of all items received after working hours.
  • Support in emergency situations and arrange /accompany guests or team members to local authorities /hospital if required.
  • Prepare daily hand over reports from shift to shift.
  • Assist Guest relations with information asked by guests, be proactive in guest contact and show interest in guest concerns.
  • Ensure proper key control policies are always followed, and entries made each time a key is withdrawn or deposited.
  • Conduct quarterly key inventory and submit it to relevant authorities.
  • Knowledgeable of all security policies and procedures and set standards.
  • Supervise deployment of all security personnel teams at the hotel [Internal team, Police, K-9 units and outsourced guards]
  • Make regular patrols and observe any unusual happenings and submit findings to the management.
  • Ensure that all fire exits, and corridors are always free from obstruction.
  • Respond to any fire/smoke alarms in the hotel and be ready to act accordingly.
  • Ensure that all fire-fighting equipment is in good working condition. .
  • Perform all duty and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
  • Understand and strictly adhere to the rules and regulations established in the company Employees Handbook and the policy on fire, Hygiene, health and Safety.
  • Conduct daily briefing during each shift activities/functions of the day to the security officers 15 minutes before the commencement of their duties.

Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Kenyan citizen
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in a Hotel.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English. Additional language will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems
  • Computer literate – knowledge of basic MS Office programs.
