Job Description

The Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board (herein after referred to as “the Board”) is a semi autonomous government agency that was established in December 2013 following the enactment of the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act, 2011. It is in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs.

Vacancy No. AFGM/10/2023 (1post)- Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the formulation of accounting policies, regulations and procedures;
  • Preparing financial statements;
  • Preparing budget and other financial estimates;
  • Preparing managements reports;
  • Assisting in preparation of final accounts;
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts;
  • Gathering, analyzing and reporting on information on income and expenditure to support decision making and management planning;
  • Recording financial transactions (income and expenditure) in accordance with the organizational and tax authority requirements;
  • Management of receipts and payments;
  • Preparing and dispatching customer statements and ensuring safe custody of records and assets;
  • Payment voucher examinations;
  • Identifying and correcting or referring any accounting errors or discrepancies;
  • Drafting trial balances and financial statements;
  • Monthly reconciliation of salary, bank and cashbook; and
  • Preparing quarterly reports.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Served in the grade of Accountant or a comparable position in a reputable organization for a minimum period of four (4) years;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting Option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Certified Public Accountants CPA (K) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA);
  • Be a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other relevant professional body;
  • Proficiency in computer applications skills; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
