Job Description

Madison Group Limited is a locally owned financial services holding company that specializes in Insurance and wealth management services. The Group comprises of Madison Life Assurance Kenya Limited, Madison General Insurance Kenya Limited, and Madison Investment Managers Limited. Madison Life Assurance Kenya was originally incorporated under Kenyan Laws in 1988 as Madison Insurance Company Limited (MICK) after a successful merger between Crusader Plc (1974) and Kenya Commercial Insurance Corporation.

Summary

The Senior Accountant position will be located at the Company’s Head Office. The role reports to the Chief Accountant and will be responsible in assisting in the effective running of the Finance Department. This will involve the following key responsibilities:

Scope

Assist in the preparation of the financial reports and related finance roles.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Preparation of management accounts.
  • Maintaining up-to-date accurate ledgers.
  • Fixed assets management.
  • Reconciliations.
  • Payables and receivables management.
  • Preparation of production and other performance reports.
  • Statutory returns to respective bodies.
  • Payroll management.
  • Supporting junior staff as required or assigned.

Qualification, Experience, and Competencies Required

  • Served as a Senior Accountant or an equivalent position for at least one year.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s degree or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution or in progression thereof will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent in IFRS compliant reporting
  • Good knowledge of Kenya tax laws.
  • Unquestionable ethics and impeccable integrity.
  • Has high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of information and communication technology and computerized management & financial systems.
  •  A team player.
  • Well-organized and able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Highly analytical and with a high business acumen.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Be Registered with the Institute of Public Accountants (ICPAK) Kenya.
