Job Description

PKF firms in Eastern Africa are among the leading firms of accountants and business advisers. PKF in Eastern Africa is represented in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia and Somalia/Somaliland and through its associated firms in Ethiopia and Southern Sudan.

Senior Associate – ESG

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and executing ESG consulting Projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outputs.
  • Conducting materiality assessments and facilitating stakeholder engagement activities to identify key ESG issues.
  • Developing ESG strategies, policies, and frameworks tailored to client needs.
  • Performing ESG due diligence and risk assessments, ensuring clients meet sustainability and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting clients with ESG reporting and disclosures, including frameworks like GRI, TCFD, SASB, IFRS S1 and S2.
  • Analysing ESG data and providing actionable insights to inform clients’ sustainability strategies.
  • Contribute to business development activities, identifying new client opportunities, developing proposals and maintaining client relationships.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging ESG trends, regulations, and best practices.
    Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership, including creating whitepapers, case studies, and presentations.
  • Represent PKF Consulting (K) Limited at industry events, conferences and other public forums.
  • Proactively manage multiple Projects and deadlines with a results-oriented approach.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Key Result Areas:

The job holder’s accountability areas are outlined as follows;

  • Submission of accurate, timely and relevant reports
  • Effective execution of assigned ESG projects
  • Effective compliance to PKF branding standards in work outputs
  • Successful adherence to ethical practices in client relations
  • Successful participation in business development and marketing initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage
  • At least 2 years of experience in ESG and sustainability consulting or related roles in a professional services firm.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and standards such as GRI, IIRC, SASB, IFRS S1 and S2 and sustainability reporting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in delivering presentations to senior clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of relevant local and international regulations and standards related to ESG in the East African context is an advantage.
